Mish Mash

  • This week feels like it has gone on forever
  • Yesterday I went to a Caritas Leadership day which was quite insightful, we looked at people from all over the world who are living in extreme poverty, it was very sad too but I had a good time and leant a few things
  • Today we had our 85th anniversary photo at school which means a plane flies over the school and everyone is standing on the oval in a formation of the number 85, it was meant to happen yesterday but everyone sat on the oval for almost 2 hours and the plane never came!! I wasn't their but apparently it was very hot and boring
  • I spent yesterday afternoon with my cousins N and A, A is in prep and his primary school is attached to my school so his dad, my uncle, picked us up after school, then we picked up N from child care and went back to their place for a swim, afternoon tea and a play. My dad picked me up about 6:30pm on his way home from work. I had a great time and they are both so adorable!!
  • I got a distinction on a science Competition I did this year and got an award on assembly
  • Tomorrow is the year 12's last day as they are on exam block next week, they have 'muck up day' and I've been told they have got a lot install for us!! I'm really excited as this time last year I was in hospital so this is all new to me
  • We also have a special 'house group lunch' tomorrow to farewell the year 12's, last year on a break from the hospital I quickly popped in for about 20 minutes to farewell the year 12's so this is new too
  • I have exams in like 2 weeks, I'm very nervous and I'm starting to study
  • E's birthday is next week and I've got no idea what I'm getting her, she keeps saying that she doesn't want anything which only makes it harder
  • My home ec pyjama pants are coming along nicely, all I've got to do is finish the hem and I'm done, I'll share pictures when they are done
  • I got re-tested today for Blatso, I won't know the results until next week but I'm hopeful
How has your week been??

Mish Mash

  • This week has gone sooo much quicker than last week-maybe it's because Monday was a pupil free day
  • I got my Home Ec results back-I got an A+, my assignment is going to be displayed in the school library and as soon as I get it back I'll post pictures and an explanation. I'm not sure if I'm happy with it going in the library as I don't want other people touching it but it hasn't been put up yet and I'm going to inspect when it does.
  • I'm in the middle of making pajama pants in Home Ec at the moment
  • On Saturday I'm going to a craft show with my Grandma and staying there on Saturday night
  • Next Thursday is one year since I got sick, I want to do something special but I'm not sure yet, if you have any ideas let me know
  • I feel on top of all my school work so far this term, I have handed in one English assignment and got another today but aside from that and a little home ec scrapbook I only have exams and I've already started writing study notes
  • My school is offering a trip to America next year to go and visit NASSA and lots of other things and I'm thinking about going but I have already been to America twice and I am looking to do something in science after I leave school but it hasn't really got anything to do with space
  • I'm now considering becoming a lawyer as well when I grow up, I've got it all planned out: Graduate from school, have 6 months to 1 year break, go to Uni to either study medicine or law, get married, work until I'm in my late 20's or early 30's and then have kids and leave work, have a working husband and have plenty of money for overseas trips and the like, maybe go back to work part time once all kids are at school and then retire. That is my ultimate dream but I'll be happy with slight variations
  • I've planned to go back to my primary school in the first week of the holidays and I'm very excited
  • I tried my primary school uniform on on the weekend and it still fits, it's almost too big!!
  • I went to the deputy principals office for the first time today, I wasn't really in trouble but it was quite an experience
  • I've already been back at school for 3 weeks, it's gone so fast and it's only a 8 week term and them I'm in year 10
  • I can't wait for the weekend!!!

Hail

Yesterday I experienced hail for the first time ever!!

I was sitting in the lounge surfing printerest and I heard something hitting the roof, we have a tin roof so it was very obvisous. I called to mum and my brother and we ran outside and there they were, little white balls of ice falling from the sky!!

I have never seen snow or anything like it before. I went inside and got some cups and wrapped a towel around myself and my brother and I started collecting it. We know have 2 cups full of hail in the freezer. We live on acreage so we only picked up the bigger bits!!

I didn't last for too long but it was great fun!!

Here are some pictures:

They are all afterwards so they have melted a little but I didn't want to take my camera outside because mum thought we might get struck by lightning!!

Happy Sunday!

It's the weeekend...finally

This week has felt like it has gone on forever!!

Monday I had a doctors appointment at the hospital, this is the doctor I have been seeing since January (I think) but she's not to good. Lets just say the appointment was a total waste of time and I won't be going back to her. She knows nothing about Blasto. and said that if I just excersise my stomach pains will go away...I wish!!

Yesterday I got into our pool to teach one of my mums friends daughter how to do tumble turns and I did a little bit of freestyle and it didn't hurt my stomach. I tried to do polo (the stroke you do when playing water polo) but I couldn't physically lift my head out of the water while I swam. This I probably because I have lost all of my core muscles.

This weekend I'm finishing my english essay which is due on tuesday, working on my Home Ec pyjama pants and journal and hopefully having a sleepover with L, E and M on Sunday night because Monday is a student free day!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Recipes I've tried and loved!!

First is annie's eats Raspberry Lemonade Bars. They are absolutely amazing!! I have made them about 3 or 4 times and we all love them, they are so fresh and are easily made gluten and lactose free with rice flour.

I have been making this regularly for my breakfasts. It is Our Best Bites Baked Oatmeal. I like it best cold, with no milk. I also do not add the craisins and I substitute the milk in the recipe for Zymil a lactose and gluten free milk.

I have only made this once but it was great!! It is also from Our Best Bites and is Peanut Butter Bars. I made it gluten free and it worked out just fine.

I have also only made this slice once and it is also from Our Best Bites. It's Glazed Lemon Bars. It is quite sickly sweet but is still nice. But the other Raspberry Lemonade Bars (up above) are much more refreshing.

I aslo love these Chocolate Nutella Cookies from Two Peas and Their Pod. They are so delicious, the batter is amazing, I think it tastes like chocolate mouse and the cookies are to die for.

What recipes have you tried and loved lately??

Mish Mash

It's spring!! Winters is over, YAY!! Finally we might get some warmer weather!!

Yesterday I walked into a desk and now I have a MASSIVE bump and bruise on my leg. I hardly even touched the desk and now it's to sore to touch!!

After lunch today I had to come home because my stomach was extremely sore. I would have come home earlier but I had my English exam. My stomach is still quite painful but my heat pack seems to be working well.

I'm starting to get some summer clothes for the cruise I'm going on in December!! I'm so excited and I can't wait!! Hopefully I'l be all better by then and be able to enjoy it a lot!!

This weekend I'm have nothing planned but studying and assignment work!! How fun?? I can't wait for the holidays, don't get me wrong I like school and I'm sorta good at it but holidays are 100 times better than school!!

Next Thursday I'm getting re-tested for Blasto since it will be four weeks since I finished the tablets. I'm kinda nervous, kinda excited and I'm not really thinking about it cause I have so so so many other thinhs going on at the moment.

I hope everyone is having a good week and I'm counting down the hours until the weekend!!

Mish Mash and the END!!

This post is pretty much what has happened in the last 3 or so weeks because I'm busy lazy, well I have been busy and sick as well. But I'm just getting used to making time to blog and it's not really working how I would like it to but I promise I'll start to try harder from now on.

The END: Well it was a long 10 weeks but I have finally finished my 10 day course of THREE different antibiotics. I was very very very sick Wednesday and Friday night and then on Saturday night I was very sick again. I was almost in hospital but we have Endone here which is a form of morphine and I took that. I had nausea, headaches, very bad bad bad stomach pains, dizziness, aching arms and legs and I felt so tired and exhausted. These antibiotics are meant to get rid of my Blasto but I can't get re-tested for another 3 to 4 weeks!! I don't know how I'll be able to wait that long but hopefully the time will fly by. I know a lot of people have it a lot worse than me so I keep thinking about them to put my situation back in perspective.

I ended up having last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well as Monday to Thursday this week off school and today I went in for half a day of school. I have SEVEN, yes seven assignments due this term and FIVE exams (and I'm only in year 9) so I am quite behind with everything because I couldn't do any work when I was sick, so I haven't done anything since last Monday night cause I was sick on last Tuesday night. So I have A LOT to do!!

Before starting the antibiotics the doctor recommended that I had 2 colonic washouts to help them work. I was very apprehensive about it so my mum rang the lady and we went in on Friday a few weeks ago  so I could see what it was like. I had my appointments the next Monday and Tuesday afternoon. The lady seemed really nice and welcoming so I went ahead and said yes. I arrived on Monday a little nervous but open minded. The insertion was fine and I felt no pain. The water then went quite hot and I told her and she turned it down and it went freezing. It then went freezing cold then boiling hot and I thought it was going to burn me. She had no control over the temperature and she couldn't keep it at a normal temp and was a little bit apologetic. She also answered her mobile phone TWICE during the procedure. The procedure was quite painful and it made my stomach pains really bad and I was crying at stages during the procedure and crying in pain again afterwards. After finishing we went out to pay and I was crying and she wanted to know why, so I told her that I was in lots of pain and I wouldn't be coming back tomorrow for another treatment. She then asked how long I had been sick and asked if I wanted to stay like this for the rest of my life. I am no doctor but she did not know my history, all she new was that I was about to start antibiotics for blasto and a colonic washout was only recommended. She could not provide me with any proof this could help the antibiotics work but my doctor believed it COULD help and that it had helped a few other ladies he had treated. That was 3 ladies that the antibiotics worked and they could have just worked on their own. The colonics lady did not know this. I believe it was not her place to put guilt on me and as we walked out I was so very upset.  I am in the middle of writing a letter to the company telling them my experience.

Not last Saturday but the one before that (30 of July) 3 of my besties and my Japanese student (and my mum) were coming home from a little outing and we were driving along a main road at 9pm. We were coming over a hill and we noticed something on the road. At first we thought it was just a pile of clothes but then we realised it was a man!! He was on the right hand lane and we were in the middle lane. As we drove past he got up and danced over to the other lanes of traffic going the other way. He then got hit by a car as we went over the next hill and we didn't see anything after that. One of my friends who saw the most was very shocked and upset and we were all very shaken. We then pulled over and my mother rang the police and told them what we had seen and that she was not prepared to go back there as she had us 5 girls in the car. Well fast forward to last week and the police rang my mum. They told her he was a crazy man and had to be handcuffed just to get him in the ambulance. He's safe and well but he has a long criminal record/history. That was all a bit scary but we are all just fine.

I won my first giveaway today and I was absolutely ecstatic!! It really made me feel so much better and it was a pattern I almost bought a few weeks ago. The pattern is from made but I won it on this blog. I can't wait to start making dresses for me for a cruise we are going on in December and for cute little other girlies I know!!

Well I think thats all I've missed for now. I have to go and start some assignments and watch some TV!!

Have a great weekend!!

Home...sick

Today I was home, sick from school. I woke up after a very disturbed sleep and I had worser (not really sure if that's a word) stomach pains than normal. Every time I moved or sat up my stomach pains got worse so I stayed home.

Tonight I'm feeling a bit better, almost back to my normal stomach pains, which is what I call my 'normal sick' not 'sick sick' just 'normal sick'.

Tomorrow I should be back at school hopefully, I hate missing days of school!!

On another unrelated note I smacked my head yesterday at school on the locker above mine and now have a big lump on my head and a bruise!! It hurt really bad and the lump came up in like 5 seconds!!

Oh and on the weekend our next door neighbours horse was diagnosed (if that is what you call it) with Hendra Virus. This horse was with their other 2 horses that live on their property last week and the owner noticed that it was sick and reported it. It was euthanised on Friday and taken away on Sunday. Their property is now in quarantine and will be for a bit longer (I can't remember exactly how long). A bit scary but everyone seems to be safe!!

Oh and last thing, we have a Japanese student coming on Friday. She is 15 and from Tokyo. She is staying for 2 weeks and goes to school with me everyday!! I don't study Japanese but love hosting the students.
